Aim of the Course :

Many anchorage conservation methods were used over the years to achieve best of treatment goals. Today the paradigm has changed significantly. Micro Implant Screws, that are inserted in the Cortical bone to achieve immovable absolute anchorage, freeing molars of this burden, have made their mark. The advantages of this method being the fact that the screws do not need osseo/osteo-integration like the case with dental implants- so no waiting time before loading them, easier to insert and remove without any local infiltration.

This hands-on course is to familiarize Orthodontists with simple & easy insertion method which they can do themselves. These micro implants are slim yet strong and tapered for intra-radicular placement between the roots - to reduce the extent of surgery needed.

Hence the advantages using this modality are :

  • Minimal Surgery with just topical spray anesthesia during insertion, and even the spray not needed during removal of them.
  • No breakages while insertion or removal.
  • Cost effective.
  • Eliminates patient compliance.
  • Efficient Anchor control, with no reactions on molars in difficult movements like Retractions, Intrusions and Extrusions of all teeth.
  • Reduces Extractions, need of Surgical options in Treatment Planning.
  • They are unobtrusive, comfortable and totally hygienic.
  • Resists any forces from 300 to 500 gm covering the total range orthodontic force needs.
  • Immediate loading, shortened Treatment time.
