In spite of the availability of adequate literature and exposure to some lingual courses in India, I had a lot of queries regarding lingual mechanics while taking up cases. Then I came to know about the Lingual Plain (Straight) Wire System, 5-Day Lingual Hands-on Typodont Course to be conducted by Dentos on 12th to 16th April 2010 under the guidance of Prof: Dr. Hee Moon Kyung of Dept. of Orthodontics, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Korea.
Way back in 2004 I had come across the work of Prof: Dr. Kyung & Prof: Dr. Park during 39th Indian orthodontic conference held in Davangere, in which Prof: Dr Kyung was an invited guest speaker. It inspired me for selecting my thesis topic (part of my Post graduate training program) on efficiency of mini screw implants as anchorage units for en masse retraction (clinical study). In fact on my request Dentos India even supported me for my study by providing me 50% off on total price of 26 micro implants (Absoanchor-SH 1312-08)
With this prior experience with Dentos India, I called up Mr. Tony for enquiring about the lingual course and he again surprised me by providing all the necessary arrangements (legal, logistic and even constant phone call updates) for my Korean expedition.
As I went through the 1st day of the course which consisted of lectures, I came to know about different views and experiences of Prof: Dr. Kyung. Later that day during his case presentations Prof: explained the mistakes he had made and taught us how to avoid it in our work. On the 2nd day the Hands-on Typodont model exercise gave me confidence in practicing the wire bending that Prof: Dr. Kyung taught the previous day. On 3rd & 4th day Prof: Dr. Kyung provided the entire participants a real life experience by taking us to Arch Orthodontic Labortary, Dentos Factory and his Department in Dental school to endow with all the clinical experience and knowledge.
But above all, my most amazing and cherishing moment throughout the course was the personality of Prof: Dr. Kyung. Anywhere around the world I haven’t heard or witnessed the training director coming down personally to the hotel where the delegates where accommodated and guiding them to the course venue, taking them for lunch/dinner, touring with them to the country side and seeing them off at the airport. Spending 6 days with Prof: Dr. Kyung really made me his admirer. In spite of his busy schedule he could find time to make sure all the participants were comfortable.
I am also grateful to Dr. Jang Won Sung and all the Post Graduates for the excellent arrangements made (academic, entertainment & logistic). The course was well organized and of international standards and I would like to request Dentos to encourage similar workshops in the future. Last but not the least; I thank Dentos for giving me the opportunity to attend this course. It was indeed a great learning & memorable experience.
Thanking you,
